So, lo and behold, today we decided to go to Damansara Uptown (again) for brunch. Ya, are you done with uprolling your eyeballs and judging us?
We decided to go to Capitol Nasi Dagang, which came highly recommended by R. We luckily managed to snag the parking in front of the shop.
Here is the shop's address: 29, Jalan SS 21/1a, Damansara Utama, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. Just go to Damansara Uptown and turn round and around the whole block until you find the shop. We never said we were great at giving directions.
Here is the unassuming looking vintage menu, unlike some hipster cafe's
They have a good variety of nasi dagang and other usual breakfast fare
S & N decided to try the Ultimate Nasi Dagang and shared the meal because it looked too heavy for one person to finish based on the picture displayed on the wall. I guess we underestimated ourselves... we could probably finish the meal individually. We rated it at 8/10. The glutinous rice was soft, not too sticky and nicely seasoned. The mild chicken curry flavour complemented the rice well. N was not too crazy about the tuna curry (or any fish for that matter) but S liked the meaty taste of it. The cuttlefish curry had too little cuttlefish to comment on the flavour. N had the prawn and said it did not taste so fresh while S had the beef rendang which was succulent with a slight hint of spice.
Here is another snapshot of the Ultimate Nasi Dagang with the beef rendang. J had the nasi dagang with tuna curry. We forgot to take a picture of that one as we were too busy finishing our Ultimate dish. J gave his dish 8/10. He generally felt the dish was nice with soft and well- seasoned rice. So, why did he leave the 2/10 out? Very hard to please, this one.
R had the Nasi Ayam Goreng Berempah. He felt it tasted ordinary so he quietly finished the food. He looked dissapointed but as we mentioned in our previous post he suffers from self- inflicted peer pressure. He rated his food at 6/10 (maybe it was 4/10 before we gave our ratings?). Our total bill came up to RM 49 including drinks so we felt it was reasonable.
Our overall experience? 8/10. The shop was well- lit and well- ventilated with clean tiled floors. The family- run shop delivered a friendly service with good efficiency. So, if you are feeling sorry for not going to this shop yet despite reading our rave review, you should. Tsk, tsk, tsk...

ReplyDeleteWe got your points. no need to comment twice, Mr Honesty
ReplyDeleteHow do you find parking at uptown?
ReplyDeleteQuestion: How do you find parking at Uptown?
DeleteAnswer: You don't.
Haha but since we are about being honest here, you can try parking at the multilevel parking right in the centre there. You will have to walk for a bit though, but on the plus side you don't have to circle the block so many times to find an empty parking space. You can try illegal parking too if you feel like paying the fine.
I've been refreshing this page hoping can see a new review. You really know how to keep the suspense.
